[ It doesn't matter how much one has mentally prepared themselves, getting punched full in the face hurts. It hurt more than Sylar was expecting. He lets out a rather pathetic gasping cry as the punch follows through, and he leans down, with his hands on his knees.
After a moment, he groans, then works on standing upright again. It was nice of John to wait until all of that was over before he lectured him. It gave him a little more time to try and shake it off. ]

I was trying to leave. Didn't make it in time.
[ He keeps an eye on John, just in case it looks like he's going to hit him again. Sylar's face is already going to be one big bruise, it doesn't need to be any worse. ]
