[ Gabriel's silent for a long moment, then lets out a sigh. ]

Yeah.

I'd feel the same way if I had that thrown back in my face, honestly. Makes me wonder how lucky I am that it hasn't happened, so far. Not here, anyway.

[ Back home was a completely different story. But this is making him rethink some things. ]

[ He absently rubs at his chest, right below his sternum. It's getting to be a familiar movement for him, these days. ]

I don't want you to talk to Monty. I know you know that it's him who said it. I don't want him to think I've - tattled on him.

[ Gabriel immediately frowns. ]

That's so childish. A friend can't be concerned?

[ It's grumbled out mostly to himself, and he sighs. ]

Fine. If some eggs end up smashed on his window, though, I wouldn't be surprised.

[bywolves]

[ He coughs out a bit of a laugh. ]

I wouldn't be surprised either. [ He drains his wine glass. ] Thank you.

[ Gabriel smirks, pleased that Royce doesn't call out his obviously more childish response to being told not to talk to Monty. He can accept that much, he thinks. ]

Sure.

I'm trying to get better about respecting people's wishes, lately. Can't always promise I'll be great about it.

[bywolves]

I appreciate the attempt. [ He smiles a little. ] It's not just a thank you for that, though. For all of this.

[ Gabriel looks down at his wine glass for a moment before similarly draining it. His smirk has become a small, pleased smile in that time. ]

Yeah. Of course. We're friends.

[ He chuckles lightly and continues. ]

--plus, you did sort of start this whole friendship with helping me sort out my worries. Seems only fair I return the favor.

Huh. I suppose that is one way you could frame the first time we spoke. [ Royce says, amused. He remembers being a dickhead, mostly, but - hey, if that helps Gabriel, that's fine. ]
