You mentioned keyblades before. Are they a special kind of weapon, like a lightsaber?

[ Thinking of that annoying guy bothers him though. He was starting to get used to him, much like he's getting used to contact with Gabriel.

Not surprised to hear your master liked the heartless, if he wants to increase the darkness in the worlds. Makes sense. Why's it a key, though? Has it just always been that way?

It's always been a key.
The history behind the design has been lost.

There's a bit more to it.
When he split us up, it left Ventus an empty husk.
He wouldn't talk. Wouldn't even look at me.
He wasn't going to last.

The Master couldn't leave us together.
He took Ventus to an abandoned island. Planned on leaving him there to parish.

That's when his heart came in contact with a brand new heart.
That heart lent a part of itself to Ventus, which in turn altered my appearance.

My face used to look exactly like a heartless.

[ All of this is really interesting, and telling him a lot about the logic of Vanitas' world (s). You just had to lean into the fairy tale aspect of it. ]

Guess I shouldn't have been surprised that there was more of you than there was of him, by the time you got split apart. Or that you pretty much overpowered him as long as you were together. But the face thing means you guys were still connected a little, even after you were separated. Are you okay with the new face? I guess you've had enough time to get used to it.

Hey, I remember that kid! He's the one that ran into Ventus, huh? Wish I paid more attention to him earlier. He seemed like your generic boy hero type. Glad he didn't manage to get rid of your Unversed.

Sora is a lot like Ventus from after we were split up.
His Nobody looks like him as well.

Nobody is something I haven't seen before.
His was on the network before going by the name of Roxas.
It sounds my Master has been keeping himself busy.

[ There is a moment pause, before he sends an image of Roxas. He took a screen cap from a video. ]

I met with Sora once.
We didn't talk much, but I was able to put the pieces together.
I can't say for sure if I get what I want, but it sounds like my Master didn't get his main goal.

Which means either I fail or I was no longer useful.

[ Dang, this Nobody was here, too? Gabriel really hadn't been paying attention to anything that sounded completely like magic. He'd have to go network browsing and find Roxas- he wants to know what Ventus looked like. ]

Ah. Hence the backup plan. Hopefully you can have something put together to keep you from getting screwed when he turns on you. 'cause I can't imagine you'll fail, and it sounds like he moved on.

[ He really doesn't want to think about the reasons his Nobody looks like Ventus. It gives him a pretty big idea what happened to him and Ventus.

The words on the screen causes him to pause as he reads it over a couple of times. He can't imagine that he'll fail.

That's new and he's really not sure what to make of how he feels about it. ]

Let's just say I can keep him from getting a new body if I needed.

[ He's glad he's not standing next to Al right now, because the smile that comes to his face is particularly nasty. No matter how nice Gabriel tries to be, he will always appreciate when someone gets what's coming to them. ]

[ He just hopes Vanitas (or the Ventus/Vanitas combination, whatever that ends up being) comes out of that okay. ]

[ That definitely made Gabriel feel better. Most people who died out in the new areas came back, but he'd learn the hard way to not push the revival system. ]

Nice. Wish I knew why a tent keeps you safe out there, but I guess in this place it's enough to know that it does.

[ For tenting, or pushing as far as he could go. If Sylar ever checks back obits, he'll find Vanitas among them. 0/10 does not recommend. It takes way too long to freeze to death. ]
