[ And here it is. He expected no one would notice but House. That seemed to be the case, at least so far. He still didn't know what to do about this man, unfortunately. He'd been getting by only talking to him about theories so far, but he doubted that would work here. Time to try a new tactic. ]

[He doesn't know where his tablet has gone, though he'll be most interested to see if there's any additional video feed from the last twenty four hours if he ever finds it again, so he couldn't text John to find out if he is alive and okay.

To a given value of okay.

Sherlock himself feels almost as if he is an automaton, his body outwardly going through the motions and enough of his brain still in the moment to make basic decisions such as directions, but the rest of him has retreated inwards. He killed two men last night and, though arguably both men did deserve it, he's not a murderer usually. He stops murderers. It bothers him to have that blood on his hands.

It bothers him so much more that his mind, his mind, had been altered. That digs right under his skin and leaves him incredibly disturbed. Truthfully, he almost stayed where he woke up, curled up and non functioning. But he recalls John with one eye, he recalls him being handcuffed and helpless, and thus he pushes through.

The first thing he does when he reaches the aquarium is check the spot John was handcuffed to, but he finds nothing. So he sets about searching the rest of the building.]

[ It doesn't take long before Sherlock comes across Sylar, as he's currently pacing across the entire length of the aquarium. Sylar had just felt like he needed to move today, bogged down with problems of a different sort than most of the victims of last night.

He doesn't like the way people succumbed to this compulsion, and he doesn't like the way they reacted afterwards. He doesn't like how similar it feels to times he'd rather forget. He doesn't like the implication that he hadn't had any choices all this time. The whole point had been to wrest control of his destiny for himself, hadn't it?

He's lost in his thoughts as he walks, so he doesn't notice Sherlock until they're quite close to each other. Once he realizes it's Sherlock, he looks relieved. ]

Hi. John's going to be happy to know you're okay. He headed out to try and find you. You want to send him something from my tablet?

[ Sherlock is clearly not using his own. ]

action; Day 181 (a few hours after the fight with Sherlock)

[It's a few hours before John and Sherlock make it back to the aquarium. John slows down once he has his friend in tow. So, it's nearing lockdown by the time the men make it. John all but orders Sherlock to stay away from Sylar for at least a little while before marching over the other man, moping in his corner. The doctor's expression is inscrutable for once as he looks down at the man. His bearing is militant, though, and Sherlock would probably recognize the signs of violence that are forthcoming.]

Get up, please, Sylar.

[ His eyes shift to look up at John, but otherwise he doesn't move. He just keeps hugging his knees and leaning his chin on them. ]

Why?

[Wait here, John has said. Wait here, guard the Joker, and he will be back tomorrow after he's taken care of a blood transfusion.

If Sherlock heard the order, it's already forgotten, because he's dressed to go out pretty soon after John has gone, gesturing for Gabriel to follow.]

Didn't John want us to stay here? Keep an eye on the Joker?

[ He's already pulling on his baseball cap, though. The questions are mostly a formality, so that he can tell John that he asked and Sherlock ignored him, or insulted him, or whatever he was going to do. The decision was made. ]

[Maybe it's a poor idea to contact Sylar, but John doesn't have much choice after pissing off Al--they always seem to come back to that. He doesn't want to have to go searching for more livers if they're already available. It would be a waste of effort.]

[ Sylar raises his eyebrows when he sees this text. Had Al not talked to him? Why would John contact him? Very curious. ]

Yeah, we've got them. That was a fun day of nosebleeds, sandwiched in between the monster hunting nights. They're practically mummified, but they're intact.

We're also heading into the tunnels, so did Al not put them somewhere for you? You guys not talking?

[ Royce takes a day to rest before he sends this message - he's still adjusting mentally from being an anomaly, it's... hard. It's also been almost two weeks since the girls, too. His voice is rough. ]

[ He'd been getting used to actually having a solid form again, himself. It was only a couple days, but it felt like an eternity. He'd wanted to check in on some people, but he hadn't bounced back enough to do so yet. Hearing one of those people on the other end was enough to make him chuckle. Good. ]

I talked to the Admin. Based on what she told Doctor Watson about the procedure I'm willing to be your sponsor, but I think it's important for you to know that this isn't a permanent fix. There won't be any permanent changes to your brain's structure or chemistry; we're talking about ongoing, active chemical and electrical treatment from the nanomachines. If they ever get deactivated, it'll all revert somewhere between a couple hours and a couple days afterward.

I didn't expect structural changes. The way these nanites seem to work pointed towards constant monitoring and micromanaging. But that- it's better than nothing. I still want to do it.

Don't suppose the Admin would give us my brain data before and after the procedure. If I had that, and it works the way she's saying, I might be able to figure out a more permanent solution for the problem. But that'd be just way too helpful a gesture for our friendly neighborhood overseer.

[ Sylar receives a video of Royce - or at least, a form of Royce. He's that same monster from before, a mix between a nazgul and a dementor and a sentient cloak. His hands are long claws, rusted knives that slide together horribly when he tries to grab the tablet. Royce ends up putting the tablet on the floor and hovering over it, bright yellow eyes the only thing visible from the void inside the hood.

He's already figured out he can't use words. Instead, he just growls low at the tablet, clacking his knife-claws on the screen. Answer, Sylar, he's back.

And he saw your post on the obituary. ]

[ Royce is the only one that could possibly get video out of him right now. The tablet's on the floor, and the shadowy figure of Sylar looms over it. His voice is deep and slow and monotone, just like when they met before. ]

Royce. You're alive. I was worried.

[There's not a lot of room in the shed - the three of them are crammed in there, with not much room for privacy. But at one point, when Royce has dozed off, Alfie scoots over to Sylar and says quietly:]

[ There's no way for Sylar to sleep in this shed. It's not as bad as the bus stops, but it's still too cramped. He sticks to his corner and tries not to tap his toes too much as he reads. It is a relief when Alfie joins him, though. ]

The NIMA procedure? [ He shrugs. ] What do you want to know?

He types something out and then deletes it. There's a few more tries as he struggles with words. Nothing seemed right and any sentimentality will feel stupid when Billy comes back in a couple of days anyways.

Finally he decides. ]
