[ Clearly, the trip to the grocery store had been good for both of them. It's been awhile since Royce had been talking about goals. ]

Yeah, I bet. It's important to have a goal, just so you focus on that, I think. And if you're running supplies, you can head back to the grocery every so often.

You should talk to Rhys- the second Rhys that showed up. At-Hex-appeal? He wants to set up a moving clinic- I think he was also going to set up near the end of the maintenance tunnels, where it hits the new area. I'd trust him to keep things safe.

[ That's actually saying a lot, coming from Gabriel. ]

[ Setting mini-goals for himself helps a lot. Now he has more to think about. And there's been a few conversations here and there that have solidified his need to try. ]

Mm... [ A beat. He hesitates. ] Don't think he likes me much.

[ That surprises him a little. ]

Oh, yeah? Why's that?

[bywolves]

I might have threatened him. [ A little. ] Just warned him against trying anything against Solomons.

[ Okay, Gabriel's laughing. He can't help it. ]

I seriously doubt he'd try anything. He's all about the healing. And he probably doesn't hold it against you, either, I bet. He's way less high-strung than a lot of us.

I mean, unless you saw a side of him I haven't.

[bywolves]

No, I doubt he'd try anything. Still could mean he dislikes me. [ Royce says, with a bit of a sigh. And then, reluctantly: ] I don't - trust doctors. Healers.

...ah. Okay. He's probably one of the good ones, but I get it.

[ It's too bad. He wants his friends to be friends, and Rhys has already catapulted his way up to being 'someone who understands'. ]

Well, there's plenty of cupboards in the intact houses that you can use. Just set up a point like Alfie did for the opening of the Pass, and that should work fine.

[bywolves]

Yeah. We'll probably use the same one Alfie set up. Set up more. [ Sniff. ] We'll look for places to set up as we go.

Might drop off supplies for the healer Rhys, if he needs them. Not going to pass him up just because he dislikes me - if I did that nobody would get supplies.

You know, you can ask if he doesn't like you, and act accordingly. That works, I'm pretty sure.

But yeah, if you just want to let him know where they are, that works, too. I bet he'd appreciate it, no matter how things went talking with him before.

[bywolves]

I'm not going to ask him. [ What even. A beat. ] I will tell him the supplies are where they'll be, though.

You tell him I'm doing this. That way he actually answers me.

[ Royce gets a light chuckle for his concerns. ]

Sure I will. I was planning to anyway.

That first talk must've been pretty bad if you don't think he'd even answer you.

Not any worse than any other conversation I've had. People in general tend to dislike talking to me in the first place. It doesn't bother me, it's just the way that it is.
