By the time she does realize it, she won't be able to find my Master. He'll have a different face then.

[ Which is a real shame actually. He would have liked to see all of that blow up in his face. ]

Maybe I'll give her a nudge in the right direction.

[ There's a lot of what-ifs involved, but he'll save it for when he gets there. ]

[ None of them knew how this whole thing would end up- whether they'd be dead or end up back home or be able to choose or what. As far as Gabriel's concerned, that's just a good reason to make up as many contingency plans as possible.

And Vanitas' is a beauty. Gabriel's laugh is really rather nasty, and he can't help but grin. ]

Now that sounds like a party. Give them both a dose of reality to chow down on, eh?

[ Not that it worked out particularly well for Gabriel, the last time he tried. But Vanitas isn't Claire- he already knows the harshness of the world and the cruelty of people. Wrecking the day of other villains shouldn't be a problem. ]

[ To anyone else that would be a bad laugh, but he likes it. It also makes him feel good about his plan. It's a compliment in it's own way. ]

Seeing his face when she confronts him could be worth it.

[ Hes not sure if that'll save him from whatever path lays before him there, but it's a start. It's a chance to possible change things.

Or at least drag the one who created him down with him. ]

I've got no idea how any of this is gonna end up, but at least you have a plan if you go back there. If I can follow you back and help out, I will. It's just too fun, messing with people who think they've got it all locked down.

[ He's not sure what he was expecting, but it wasn't that. He looks at the tablet with surprise clearly there. He wants to follow him back. He wants to help.

Even more surprising is that Vanitas actually wants it. He would like for Gabriel to be there. To show him what he can do and the extent of his abilities.

And then there's also the reminder it may come at a cost. His Master would be there and he always took measures for every possible future. He may have contingency plans for Vanitas' betrayal if things didn't pan out.

It'll be similar to when Gabriel offered to go after his Master before. The spark of hope being there, before it crumbles away to something darker. His own negativity and Ven's leftover pessimism are working against him. ]

We'll see.

[ Not outright telling him no this time, but not making any promises. ]

I'll keep it in mind.

[ And come up with back-up plans just in case. A back-up for his back-up even. His Master would be proud. ]

[ Hey, not hearing no right away is a victory in itself. Gabriel's smirk eases down to a smile. ]

[ There is a moment of wanting to keep Gabriel on the line longer. Conversing did get his mind away from the failure from earlier.

But it also feels like a crutch. He has to get stronger than this.

Putting up the mask again as he lifts a hand. ]

[ Gabriel opens his mouth, trying to tell him to wait, but- it's fine. They can only be open for so long, after all. He'll give Vanitas some space and not call him back right away.

He hopes you'll be okay, buddy. ]
